The field of immunotherapy is very complex, it includes the areas of clinical research, production and transport as well as marketing. In order to master all of these tasks, an interdisciplinary team of experts is required. CELLMED has successfully assembled such a team.

Wolfgang Huber, MD, MBA (chairman of the supervisory board)

Wolfgang received his training as a medical doctor at the Medical University of Vienna, followed by an MBA program at Columbia University with emphasis on Health Care Management. Further career steps include working for Sandoz Pharmaceuticals Corporation in New Jersey and Merck, Sharp & Dohme in Munich. In the over 20 years of his professional career in the pharmaceutical industry Wolfgang has built strong competences in hospital management and developed excellent qualifications in setting up, structuring and financing start-up companies. He is a founding member of CELLMED.

Karl Krista, MD, Austria (CEO)

Karl Krista has broad managerial experience in the life science industry and has already successfully led the development of another cancer vaccine for the treatment of ovarian cancer.

Marianne Imhof, PhD (CSO)

Marianne was trained as a biologist at the University of Vienna and spent several years in the U.S. as a senior researcher at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, New York, NY. She joined CELLMED in 2008 and is head of the clinical and scientific research program. She has 14 years of experience in research, immunology and preclinical development.

Gerhard Stvarnik, PhD (COO)

Gerhard was educated as a chemist at the University of Graz. Over the last 25 years he held several positions in the international pharmaceutical industry in the areas of quality, production and regulatory affairs. Before joining CELLMED in 2007, he was a vice president with Baxter, responsible for global quality. At CELLMED he is the Qualified Person and manager of the manufacturing facility in Krems, Lower Austria.

Bettina Königshofer, MA (CFO)

Bettina is a trained economist and was educated at the FH diploma degree program for economics in Vienna (Mag. FH). She has excellent qualifications due to her specialization in financial tasks and has been with CELLMED since its foundation in 2006. Bettina is responsible for Finance and Administration.

Martin Imhof, MD, PhD, Austria

As head of the gynecologic department of the “Landesklinikum Weinviertel Korneuburg” he has years of hospital experience in the application of dendritic cells. Martin is the principal investigator in CELLMED’s clinical phase I study with PROCURE®.

Jan Norbert Lessem, MD, PhD, Sweden and USA

Medical doctor, PhD Clinical Cardiology

Jan brings long-term experience in the pharmaceutical industry to the Advisory Board. He has held several responsible positions in big pharma (SANDOZ LAB, Merck, Sharpe & Dohme Research, Bristol-Myers Company, Syntex Research, SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals, Takeda, Orapharma Inc.); currently he is Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Advanced BioHealing as well as owner and CEO of the clinical consulting business Clinstrat LLC.

 

Herbert Strobl, MD, Austria

Head of the research division “Molecular Biology of Hematopoietic Stem Cells and Dendritic Cells” at the Medical University of Vienna with long-term scientific focus on maturation of dendritic cells.

Martin Thurnher, PhD, Austria

Martin studied microbiology and biochemistry

He is considered a pioneer of dendritic cell studies and was involved in the first clinical trial with dendritic cells in 1997 in Austria. He is a member of the KMT center of excellence in medicine in Austria.

 

I. Jolanda M. de Vries, PhD, The Netherlands

Jolanda is a full professor at the department of tumor immunology at Nijmegen Centre for Molecular Life Sciences, Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands.

She possesses outstanding international expertise in the field of dendritic cell vaccines; working together with Prof. Carl Figdor.
